SPORTS
BASEBALL
T-BALL
Instructional program teaching basic fundamentals for 5 and 6 year olds. We will attempt to hold registration during April with games and practices beginning in May. The time frame for T-Ball is different beginning in 2005.
PITCHING MACHINE
Instructional program for children ages 7-8. Registration begins in April. Games are played during May and June.
DIXIE YOUTH BASEBALL
For children ages 9-14. Registration begins mid-February. Player selection is held mid-March. Games are played during April, May and first of June.
DIXIE MAJORS BASEBALL
Program for young people ages 15-18. Registration held in May. Games played during June and July.

SOFTBALL
GIRLS SOFTBALL
For girls ages 9-15. Registration begins mid-February. Player selection held mid-March. Girls ages 9-12 play slo-pitch softball. Ages 13-15 play fast pitch softball.  Games played during April, May and first part of June.
ADULT SLO-PITCH
Two divisions in adult softball: Ladies and Church League. Church League begins registering teams first of February. Practice held during March. Games played April, May and June. Ladies register teams in June. Games played in July, August and September.
FOOTBALL
NFL FLAG FOOTBALL: Instructional (non-contact) program for children ages 7-8. Registration begins in mid-August. Player selection held first of September. Games played through October.
TACKLE FOOTBALL: Two divisions - Small Fry (ages 9-10) and Mite (ages 11-12). Registration begins mid-August. Player selection held first of September. Games played through October.
CHEERLEADING
For girls during football season. Two divisions Small Fry (ages 8-10) and Mite (ages 11-12). Registration and games same as for Tackle Football.
SOCCER
Due to the growth of our soccer program, the Parks and Recreation Department now offers five age divisions.  Little Tykes (ages 5-6), Pee Wee (ages 7-8), Small Fry (ages (9-10), Mite (ages 11-12) and Junior League (ages 13-15).Registration begins mid-August. Player selection held first of September. Games played through October.
BASKETBALL
There are three divisions in this sport. Small Fry (ages 8-10), Mite (ages 11-12) and Midget (ages13-14). The Parks and Recreation will attempt to offer a girls division this season.  Registration begins mid-November. Player selection held first of December. Games played
TENNIS
Yearly family or individual memberships to the Riverfront Tennis Center are available for city or non-city residents. Lessons can be arranged through the tennis pro. Tennis tournaments are held throughout the year.

Any youth registering for a sport at Conway Parks and Recreation Department for the first time must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Proof of city residence required when registering if you live inside the city limits of Conway only. There is a registration fee for all sports.

 
ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES
AEROBIC /STEP AEROBICS CLASSES
Classes are offered in six week sessions throughout the year. Classes held at Conway Senior Center. Participants must register for classes. A  fee is charged.
BREAKFAST WITH SANTA
Event held in December the same day as the Conway Christmas Parade. Children and parents can enjoy breakfast with Santa. Limited number of tickets. Children can have picture taken with Santa. Full breakfast served. Held at the Conway Senior Center. "Treat Bags" given to participants. 
CHILDREN'S TURKEY SHOOT
Event takes place 6:00pm-8:00pm the Friday and Saturday before Thanksgiving and is for children ages 6-12. The children will have five chances with a BB gun (provided by the Parks & Recreation Dept.) to hit a target. If successful, the children win a free turkey certificate. Event is held at the Parks & Recreation Complex. Small fee is charged.
CITY CHRISTMAS CARD CONTEST
This event takes place in mid-August and is open to children ages 7-13. Each child will design a Christmas card. The cards will then be returned to the Parks and Recreation office and later presented to City Council. The winner will receive a small gift along with having their card designated as the official Christmas card for the City of Conway.
COLLINS PARK EASTER FESTIVAL
An annual event held in mid-April in Collins Park for children ages 3-9. There will be an Easter egg hunt, Easter games, face painting, balloon animals, and candy. Free event.
FATHER-DAUGHTER VALENTINE DANCE
Takes place the Friday before Valentines Day for children ages 6-12. Registration for this event begins mid-January. Limited amount of tickets. Fathers and Daughters will enjoy dinner, corsage, photo and a night of endless fun and dancing for a nominal fee. This event takes place at the Conway Senior Center.

The Parks and Recreation Dept. will attempt to offer a "Couples Valentine Dance" in 2005. This event will be held at the Conway Senior Center and is open to any adult and their "sweetheart".  Tickets will go on sale in January.

HOOK A KID ON GOLF
National program designed to teach kids, ages 8-13, about the fundamentals of golf. Held at the Conway Golf Club Fee includes a beginners golf set, shirt and lessons. Held in July.
MOVIES
During the summer and fall months, movies are shown at the new Boardwalk located at the Conway Marina, once a month. Movies are free and begin at approximately 8:30 p.m. Popcorn and sodas are available for a small fee.
SANTA CALLING
Held mid-December. Children ages 3-9 are eligible for this program. "Santa" will call and talk to each child regarding their Christmas wish list. Free program.
SHAG LESSONS
Lessons are offered in six week sessions throughout the year, for an hour each week. Participants must register for lessons, fee is charged.
SUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM
Eight week program is for children ages 7-13. Registration begins first of May. The program begins in June and is held at Collins Park. Participants enjoy various educational hands-on activities, field trips, swimming, and many more fun activities. Weekly fee is charged to attend program.
