Jean M. Timbes

Jean Medlen Timbes was elected to Conway City Council in 2002 and served as the Mayor Pro Tem in 2004.  Prior to her election, Ms. Timbes served on the City’s Planning and Zoning Commission.  Ms. Timbes is a graduate of Conway High School, Columbia College (BA) and the University of South Carolina (MA).  She has been a resident of Conway for more than 50 years; and is a recently retired educator having served at Conway High School, as an Adept Peer Observer for Horry County Schools, and ending her career as a Mathematics Teacher Specialist for the State Department of Education.  Council Member Timbes is active in the First United Methodist Church, the Horry County Historical Society, Conway Main Street, The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, and the SC Municipal Association.  Ms. Timbes currently serves on the Chamber of Commerce Economic and Development Board, the Riverfront Planning Commission, and the Snowhill Neighborhood Association.  Her family includes two sons; Mark Timbes, his wife Clay, and their two daughters, and Michael Timbes and his wife Ashley.
