Conway's giant moss-laden oaks, stately old homes and riverfront locale offer a unique setting for festivals and special events throughout the year.

  •   Quilt Fest - Held in February, the gala features quilters from North and South Carolina and is open to all quilters and viewers free of charge. Sponsored by the Horry County Museum. For dates and further information, call (843) 248-1542.

  •   Bluegrass on the Waccamaw - This event is held on the second Saturday in May, under the Main Street Bridge in historic Conway, from 1 to 11 p.m. Features top local, regional and international bands. Admission is free.   •   'Round The Fourth - An American Celebration in the Independent Republic of Horry held the last Saturday in June. Featuring these special events: three stages of continuous entertainment with National Headliners; USTA Tennis Tournament; Senior Clubhouse, Antique & Classic Car Show; A Tribute to America; Business Expo; Arts & Crafts Show; Children's Games & Activities; Riverboat and Train Rides; Fireworks; Food and Fun!!!   •   Fall Fest and Scarecrow Contest - Scarecrows stand guard around historic city hall and the downtown business district as Conway celebrates fall with special tours, story telling, an antique show, hay rides, old-time riverboat tours and more.   •   Winter Wonderland - Conway's Riverwalk is transformed into a "Winter Wonderland" of colorful lights and decorated trees, mixed among nostalgic scenes celebrating the holiday season. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. nightly during December. For more information, call (843) 248-1760.

  •   Holiday Open House - For a special shopping experience, spend the first three Thursday nights in December in downtown Conway as carolers stroll the sidewalks and Santa's helpers serve hot chocolate and cookies to all.   •   Historic Conway Holiday Tours - Guided walking tours, a riverboat ride, door prize drawings and tasty treats are all part of these special holiday tours. Call Conway's Visitor Coordinator at (843) 248-1700 for tour dates and information.
