The Fire Department is a combination Fire and Rescue department with three stations, thirty two paid personnel, and fourteen volunteers. As most departments today, we are involved in the usual myriad of fire service related activities such as rope rescue, water rescue, arson investigations, EMS first responder and BLS, auto extractions, dive team unit, limited Haz-mat Ops, fire prevention, public education, and fire and life safety inspections. The department serves the entire city plus an area around the city (1-5 miles) through a contract with Horry County. We have good working relationships with all surrounding departments and we join together as a team to provide our community with advanced and aggressive fire services.
