A business license is a tax levied on the privilege of doing business in the City of Conway. The value of that privilege is measured by a business’ gross income.
Any business physically located within the City of Conway (resident business) is required to have a business license. Additionally, any business that is located outside of the City of Conway (nonresident business) but comes into the City to do business is also required to have a business license.
Resident businesses are businesses that are physically located inside the City of Conway and their business license fee is based on 100% of the gross income generated at their location. Nonresident businesses are businesses that are located outside the City of Conway but come into the City to do business. Their business license fees are based on gross income generated within the City.
A business license application will need to be completed and submitted for approval. Applications are subject to approval by various City Departments depending on the classification of the business.
The business license year begins May 1 and ends April 30 of the next year. Businesses are required to renew their licenses on or before April 30 of each year. Renewal notices are mailed during the month of March.
