TWO ELECTED, TWO HEADED TO RUNOFF IN CONWAY MUNICIPAL ELECTION

CONWAY, SC (November 3, 2021) – The City of Conway Municipal Election Committee held a meeting at Conway City Hall on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at 10:00am reviewing results and certifying the November 2, 2021 election results.

Three (3) city council seats were up for election. The following are the official results:

A BUTLER 830

W GOLDFINCH 925

D R HARDEE 497

J HARDWICK 783

B HELMS 966

S HUBBARD 513

TOTAL ELECTION VOTES 5090

Candidates in this election had to receive minimum of 848 votes to win a seat outright. This number is figured by the total election votes (5090) divided by available council seats (3), and then dividing that result by two. (City of Conway Code of Ordinances Section Elections 1-8-3-c-2)

W Goldfinch (935) and B Helms (966) won two of the open seats outright. A Butler (830) and J Hardwick (783) will contend for the third seat in a runoff election. The runoff election will be held Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
