Special Election for Vacant Council Seat - June 13, 2023

SPECIAL ELECTION FOR CONWAY CITY COUNCIL SEAT - Tuesday, June 13, 2023
 
Conway City Council will hold a special election Tuesday, June 13, 2023, to elect a Council member to fill a vacancy, in which the term will expire on December 31, 2023.
 
Candidates: Candidates must be qualified voters of the city and must have resided within the city for at least four months prior to the date of this election (as of February 13, 2023). Interested candidates must submit proof of residency in the City, a Statement of Candidacy, and pay the filing fee of $325. Candidates file in the office of the City Clerk at the Building and Planning Department, 196 Laurel Street.
Filing opens - Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Noon
Filing closes - Friday, April 28, 2023 at Noon
 
Qualifications for voting: Every person offering to vote must be duly registered on the Horry County books of registration as an elector at the precinct in which he offers to vote thirty (30) days prior to the election. The last day to register to vote in this Special Municipal Election is May 12, 2023.
 
Precinct Hours: Voting hours will be from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 13.
 
Precinct Locations: Coastal Carolina—Christ the Servant Lutheran Church; East Conway—Conway Library; Four Mile—Bethany Bible Chapel; Homewood—Homewood Elementary School; Jamestown—South Conway Elementary School; Maple—Maple Baptist Church; North Conway #1—Mary Thompson Building at Collins Park; North Conway #2—Conway Elementary School; Racepath #1—Conway Senior Center; Racepath #2—Whittemore Park Middle School; Red Hill #1—Christ the Servant Lutheran Church; West Conway—Horry County Government & Justice Center; Wild Wing—Christ the Servant Lutheran Church.
 
Certification of Election: The Municipal Election Commission will hold a hearing on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of determining the validity of all provisional ballots and certifying the election results. The certification will be held in the conference room at Conway City Hall, 229 Main Street, Conway.
