City of Conway and Santee Cooper to Officially Open Newest Electric Vehicle Charging Station

CONWAY, SC (December 12, 2023) - The City of Conway is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded a $9,706 grant from the Santee Cooper EVolve Program. This grant from Santee Cooper is dedicated to the implementation of an electric vehicle (EV) charging station and the enhancement of infrastructure to support the growing demand for electric vehicles within the community. A ribbon cutting will be held on December 13, 2023 at 11:00am at Third Avenue and Main Street parking lot with City Officials and our partners from Santee Cooper to announce the opening of the newly installed EV charging station.

The Santee Cooper EVolve Program is committed to fostering sustainable practices and promoting the use of electric vehicles across South Carolina. The grant awarded to the City of Conway reflects a shared commitment to advancing clean energy solutions and encouraging environmentally friendly transportation alternatives.

“Conway has such great family events year-round and now residents and visitors alike can charge up while they stroll the riverfront or enjoy one of the festivals,” said Vicky Budreau, Chief Customer Officer. “We are a proud part of this historic community and are thankful for the opportunity to help power its future.”

The funds have been utilized to install an EV charging station in Conway at Third Avenue and Main Street , providing residents and visitors with convenient access to sustainable transportation options.

In addition to the installation of charging stations, the grant will contribute to the development of increased infrastructure to support electric vehicles. This includes the implementation of signage, designated parking spaces, and other necessary enhancements to accommodate the growing number of electric vehicles on the road.
