FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – 

Conway, South Carolina (May 28, 2019) – As temperatures are predicted to rise in the coming days, the Conway Senior Center will open its doors for any senior citizens who need to escape the heat. Horry County Council on Aging will help to provide any transportation between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm to and from the shelter.

The center will be open today and tomorrow for residents who need a cool place to stay. 

The address for the center is 1519 Mill Pond Road, Conway, SC 29527. Any senior citizen who needs assistance with transportation should call l(843)248-5523.

The City of Conway would also like to remind its residents that anyone who is in need of a cool place to stay overnight, the lobby of the Conway Public Safety Building is available.

The Conway Public Safety Building is located at 1600 9th Avenue, it is open 24/7, and it has a restroom available for the public.

Here are some tips to get you prepared for the heat:

- Stay hydrated
- Use sunscreen
- Wear light clothing
- Avoid strenuous activity
- Don't leave people or pets in the car
