CITY OF CONWAY SEEKS INPUT FOR RIVERFRONT AND DOWNTOWN MASTER PLAN
Conway, South Carolina (January 26, 2022) – The City of Conway seeks input as they create a new master plan for the Riverfront and Downtown Conway. The plan is a roadmap for future development and will help the community to prioritize investments and overall placemaking.

BACKGROUND
Since the 2017 Master Plan was adopted, numerous projects and improvements have been implemented.  The City of Conway now desires to update this plan and guide further public improvements and serve as a continued catalyst for private investment for the next five years.

AREA OF STUDY 
Riverfront and Downtown Conway

OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE
This planning process will be an effort led by  a Planning Team composed of the consulting firms: Boudreaux Group + Arnett Muldrow & Associates + Toole Design + Mahan Rykiel. The objectives is to develop a plan that is cognizant of the relationship of downtown Conway to the River and pays respect to existing investment, fosters connections, and encourages long term benefit for the citizens of Conway. Identify areas in the downtown and Riverfront that are appropriate for improvement or redevelopment and develop detailed concept plans for these areas including street connections, intersections, gateway and corridor beautification. This plan must engage key stakeholders, city officials, public and private sector partners, and the public.

Public Input - Session #1 
Wednesday, February 2, 2022 | 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm | Building and Planning Department, 196 Laurel Street
The public is invited to meet the Planning Team and share their ideas and opinions about the future of the Riverfront and Downtown including identification of areas in the downtown and riverfront that are appropriate for improvement or redevelopment ; Design improvements (streetscapes, intersections, gateway and corridor beautification); Recreation opportunities; Parking, street connections, alleyway connections, and other infrastructure improvements; Land use recommendations; Green spaces; and use of the vacant lot located at 2nd and Laurel.

Public Presentation of a Draft Master Plan 
Friday, February 4, 2022 | 3:00 pm | Building and Planning Department, 196 Laurel Street
The  Planning Team from Boudreaux Group + Arnett Muldrow & Associates + Toole Design + Mahan Rykiel will present their key findings for the Conway Riverfront and Downtown 2022 Master Plan. The presentation will highlight the future of the Riverfront and Downtown after wrapping up a three-day  charrette.

ADOPTION OF FINAL MASTER PLAN
The  Planning Team from Boudreaux Group + Arnett Muldrow & Associates + Toole Design + Mahan Rykie will present the final master plan to City Council in a public meeting.
